The Opportunity:

Our client - global investment management company, is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its team in Vilnius.

The role the Senior Data Engineer will be critical in scaling the data solutions, ensuring high performance for analytical workloads, and driving best practices for data modeling, partitioning, and visualization support.

Our expectations for the candidate:

• Prior experience in Data Engineer role (strong understanding of data engineering principles and best practices);
• Strong experience in database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL, Azure SQL), and query optimization;
• Solid coding skills (mainly with Python) and familiarity with version control systems (Azure Repos/ Git);
• Risk knowledge (understanding of risk concepts such as VaR calculations) and good understanding of statistics;
• Excellent knowledge of English, oral and written;
• Results oriented with can-do attitude.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Lead the design, optimization, and performance tuning Azure SQL databases and data infrastructure;
• Design and implement advanced indexing strategies (e.g., filtered, columnstore, and covering indexes) and partitioning schemes (horizontal and vertical) to optimize large dataset performance;
• Analyze and tune long-running queries using execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, and DMVs to achieve sub-second response times for critical reports;
• Lead capacity planning, index maintenance automation, and performance baselining across Azure SQL and managed instances;
• Evaluate and deploy advanced Azure features such as Hyperscale tier, In-Memory OLTP, Intelligent Query Processing, and serverless compute for cost scaling;
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or Synapse Pipelines optimized for parallelism and cost-efficiency;
• Collaborate with BI developers to streamline data flows and ensure accurate, high-performance dashboards and reports in Power BI;
• Work closely within the Risk Team reporting directly to the CRO.
