Head of Onshore Development

Utility-Scale Renewables | Central & Northern Europe

A rapidly growing renewable energy platform operating across Central and Northern Europe is seeking a senior development leader to oversee the governance, investment readiness, and strategic execution of a large-scale onshore renewables portfolio.

The portfolio includes onshore wind, solar PV, BESS, and hybrid renewable projects across multiple European markets.

This is a high-impact executive role focused not on origination but on ensuring projects are developed, assessed, prioritized, and prepared to investment-grade standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in:

• strengthening stage-gate governance,

• improving portfolio transparency and decision-making,

• challenging project quality and investment logic,

• and ensuring consistent development standards across markets.

The role offers strong exposure to Executive Committee and Board-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and improve the development framework across wind, solar, and BESS projects

• Ensure disciplined stage-gate governance and investment readiness

• Oversee portfolio quality, reporting accuracy, and project prioritization

• Drive commercial, financial, technical, ESG, permitting, and grid readiness

• Prepare and defend Board-ready investment cases

• Coordinate international country teams within a matrix structure

• Support strategic portfolio growth and capital allocation decisions

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a senior renewable energy executive with:

• 10+ years in renewable energy development

• strong onshore wind, solar and/or data centers background

• experience with multi-country utility-scale portfolios

• strong commercial and financial understanding

• experience working with investment committees or Boards

• deep knowledge of permitting, grid, land, and stakeholder processes

• strong matrix leadership and stakeholder management skills

• fluent English

Experience with onshore, BESS, hybrid projects or data enters is considered a strong advantage.
